For more than three decades, The Greek Fisherman has been serving seafood and charcoal-grilled specialities to locals and visitors to Cape Town. Our cooking is rooted in the traditions of the Greek village table: simple recipes, good ingredients and food made to be shared.
What's on The Menu
Begin with more than 20 signature meze and starters, made for sharing. Choose from favourites such as halloumi saganaki, homemade beef biftekia, sardines, dolmades and more traditional Greek dishes.
We also offer an impressive selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, prepared daily using fresh, wholesome ingredients. Whether it’s our homemade moussaka, hearty lentil soup, or seasonal vegetable dishes, there is something for every guest to enjoy.
Complete your dining experience with one of our indulgent homemade desserts, including traditional baklava and other Greek-inspired sweet treats, or relax with a carefully selected dessert wine, premium liqueur, or freshly brewed coffee.
Our fresh seafood is delivered daily, while our premium meats are six weeks matured and selected for the highest quality.
We are Halaal-friendly: no pork is served on the premises, no alcohol is used in our cooking, and all our beef is sourced from Halaal-certified suppliers. Everything else is made in-house: our authentic homemade Greek dips, creamy strained Greek yoghurt, and freshly baked breads are all prepared by hand each day.
In keeping with traditional Greek cooking, all our homemade dishes, aside from our deep-fried selections, are prepared using extra virgin olive oil. We keep our seasoning simple: sea salt, freshly ground black pepper and Greek oregano, with nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and allspice used where tradition calls for them. There are no added preservatives, artificial colourants, stabilisers or flavour enhancers in our dishes, just fresh ingredients and traditional cooking.
It’s this respect for simplicity, quality, and authenticity that has remained at the heart of our cooking since 1992.

Our wine list brings together more than 150 South African wines, from established estates to newer names worth discovering. Whether you favour a well-known classic or want to try something new, there is plenty to choose from alongside our menu.
In recognition of this dedication, The Greek Fisherman was honoured with Diners Club International’s Wine List of the Year Award, receiving the Diamond Award in 2010, 2011 and 2013, and the Platinum Award in 2012. This award-winning heritage continues to inform our approach to wine today.
