Philosophy

The Greek Fisherman was started in 1992 by Peter Protoulis. As one of the original restaurants in the V&A Waterfront, we take pride in having stood the test of time and delivering consistently year after year to offer diners an all-round memorable dining experience.

Our knowledgeable staff will give you a warm reception every time you step through the doors. The menu is meticulously put together, due to our passion for food and our dedication to deliver only prime seafood and grill dishes to your table.

Our philosophy at The Greek Fisherman is simple – the same homely recipes with a creative approach to excellent quality produce. We offer fresh and honest food which is prepared with simple techniques to bring out the flavours.

Sharing food with others is important in Greek Culture. Eating is not just a means of satisfying hunger but also a social experience. Meal times are an event where family and friends are brought together. The same sentiments are shared at The Greek Fisherman. So bring your family and come meet our family.

“Food is family, family is life, life is everything.”

– renowned Greek chef.

Location and Interior

Offering diners a majestic view of Table Mountain and the working harbour while being part of the bustling energy of the V&A Waterfront, The Greek Fisherman has a bountiful selection of seafood and grill favourites, prepared several ways. It is a family-friendly dining spot that promises a memorable experience regardless of the occasion.

The restaurant’s interior is fresh and modern. Terrazzo Flooring was chosen to resemble sand; the ceiling offers an ‘underwater experience’ with its dark blue paint and a large ceiling feature completes the look that resembles a boat’s hull hanging overhead.

Special attention was given to the lighting in the restaurant to create the correct ambience be it day or night. Wall cladding with Greek writing (all our family members’ names) etched onto it and interior wall finishes in natural tones all add to the ambient village-type feel but with a distinct modern-day touch.

Add efficient service with a smile – there is indeed something for everyone.
